PRESS RELEASE
Crushpad Breaks Land Speed Record for Wine Brand Creation
Over 400 wines created in 2006 harvest
For
its third harvest, Crushpad has produced 15,000 cases of luxury-class wine for
its rapidly growing client base. This represents over 400 distinct wines,
making Crushpad the world's leader in wine brand creation. From
September through November 2006, hundreds of new winemakers flew in from across
the country to see their passion for wine turn into their own boutique
wine. Many more participated remotely via the Internet using
Crushpad's interactive webcams and crushnet.com, Crushpad's online
community for winemaking.
Crushpad
processed almost 300 tons of grapes at its San Francisco location while
involving wine enthusiasts who participated in winemaking activities such as
crushing, fermentation and pressing. Almost half of Crushpad's
volume was through Crushpad Commerce - a service that allows wine
enthusiasts to easily launch their own high end commercial wine brands without
quitting their jobs and moving to wine country.
"In
2006 we made incredible strides in our capacity and winemaking expertise,"
noted Michael Brill, Crushpad CEO. "It is completely gratifying to be at
the press with a client, tasting their wine and looking back at each other with
big, tooth-stained grins. It's really an honor for us to help other
wine enthusiasts pursue their passion."
Crushpad
currently has over 1,500 customers in 35 different states and 6 countries. The
member base is expected to grow significantly in 2007 with the official launch
of crushnet.com. Crushnet extends the offering of Crushpad by empowering
members to easily band together to create winemaking groups to produce wine.
This new "social production" model is in stark contrast to the
traditional industrial supply chain model that has been the mainstay of the
wine industry since prohibition.
"Defining
and making my own unique, cool climate syrah has been amazing," said
NYC-based marketing executive Loren Grossman. "Even at this very
early stage, the wine has huge promise and I can't wait to make more wine
at Crushpad in 2007."
