About Liz Willette

Liz Willette got bitten by the wine bug while living in Beaune, France. At the time she was working for Butterfield & Robinson, a high-end active travel company. She happened to live with a woman who was running Kermit Lynch’s French office so she was able to drink the best wines of France. She then moved to Italy and focused her education on Italian wines while researching and guiding trips for Butterfield & Robinson. One winter in the Dolomites, she ran the wine bar in a Relais & Chateau hotel with a two-star Michelin restaurant. It was there, between ski runs, that she chose the wines for a dinner that chef David Bouley was having at the restaurant while on his research trip for his new restaurant, The Danube. After dinner, David asked Liz to move to New York City as the assistant sommelier at The Danube. After some time with Bouley, Liz then moved into the distribution side of the business, first working for Michael Skurnik Wines for 5 years. In 2006, she started her own distribution business, Willette Wines, with the wines of Jean Louis Chave. From there she grew her business for 6 years, and eventually merged it with Grand Cru Selections in spring 2011. She is now a partner in Grand Cru, a fine wine importer and distributor.
