Here a quick video taken from the end of the shaker table today of some absolutely primo Neal Vineyard Cabernet from Napa. The shaker table is essentially a second sorting line, in addition to the conveyor belt line, that allows sorters to pull out jacks (the little green stem things) and sunburned berries after the [...]

Our largest winemaking group to date is probably in the hundreds. Gary Vaynerchuk made a Vayniac Cabernet with a bunch of crazy Vayniacs in 2007. But today, with the launch of The Fledgling Initiative, we’re going to try social winemaking on a grander scale by inviting the tens of millions of people in the Twitter [...]

Snow Leopards are fantastically cool. And if you’re reading the Crushpad blog we know you think wine is cool. With all due respect to what I’m sure is a fabulous operating system from Apple, OSs are not that cool. Now you can help save Snow Leopards and drink some smoking stuff with Snow Leopard The [...]

Most Crushpad customers get their fruit from our source vineyards – some of the best AVAs and sites in California and Bordeaux. Crushpad Commerce clients John and Carolyn Aver wanted to take advantage of the bounty from their own backyard, however, when establishing Aver Family Vineyards wines in 2006.
The Aver clan lives and [...]

In addition to being our best cooking and best looking client, Tyler Florence makes some pretty damn good zin too! Wine Spectator just picked up on this and gave his 2006 Dry Creek Zin 92 points and a heady review.
If you haven’t yet been to Tyler’s store in Mill Valley, it is a must visit. [...]

I feel like our clients are on a major roll lately. In specific, our Pinot clients have been winning accolades right and left. We’ve had Armanino, 5 Points, Lionheart, Joelle, Fulcrum, Dain and Rockroom all recently score 90+ points for their Pinots in Wine Spectator or Wine Advocate. Plus, we’ve had great showings at the [...]

Today brought word that a pair of Pinots from Rockroom Wines were received very well by James Laube of the Wine Spectator. The 2006 Hein and 2007 Bohemian bottlings were given 90 and 89 point ratings respectively. Way more interesting than the scores (as usual) were the glowing tasting notes reprinted below. Kudos to Scott [...]

Big congratulations to all of our commerce members entered in the 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Although we’re know that many excellent wines are made here at Crushpad each year, it’s always nice to have outside validation. It’s especially nice when that praise comes from the biggest competition of American wines in the world.

The 4th annual Pinot on the River Festival was held along the western edge of the Russian River AVA in Forestville last weekend. Autumn is in the vineyard, evidenced by senescence; the aging of vine canopies where leaves change from photosynthesizing green to getting-ready-for-winter’s-slumber orange, yellow and red. The colorful backdrop was perfect for some [...]
