As many of you know, Crushpad Bordeaux is housed inside of the beautiful Chateau Teyssier, home to some of St. Emilion's most coveted and consistently high-scoring wines. Teyssier is the only winery besides Haut-Brion, Lafitte and Margaux to get five stars from Decanter for the past five years. With a bit of nepotism on our side, we've been able to convince owner-winemaker Jonathan Maltus that it would be a great idea to expose his wines to our member base. And since we're consolidating the shipment with some other wine we're bringing over, Crushpad clients and friends get ridiculously low "en primeur" level pricing - and without sweaty, smoky all-night negotiating sessions!

Le Dôme, Saint Emilion Grand Cru |
$110 / bottle |
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate POINTS 95-97
‘A blend of 75% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot, it displays an ethereal elegance allied with substantial flavor authority and intensity, seemingly regardless of vintage conditions. This 7-acre vineyard boasts no other than Angelus as one of its most prestigious neighbors. Enormous quantities of berry fruit intermixed with sweet, damp forest floor, graphite, licorice, and oak notes are found in this intense, full-bodied, supremely elegant wine. Sadly, there are fewer than 1,000 cases in 2008. It should drink well for two decades or more. This is the winery that made everyone recognize what Jonathan Maltus was doing in St.-Emilion. The expatriate from England produces this cuvee, which may possess the highest percentage of Cabernet Franc in the St.-Emilion appellation.’
Decanter POINTS 17.5
‘Deep, dark and reserved. Tight, textured with dark fruit notes. Plentiful tannins finely honed. Well handled extraction. Subdued but with an edge of finesse.‘ |

Vieux Château Mazerat,
Saint Emilion Grand Cru |
$82 / bottle |
Decanter POINTS 18.5
‘This new wine from Jonathan Maltus of Chateau Teyssier is stamped with class. Fragrant, complex with beautifully extracted fruit and fine texture and tannins. Power and elegance as well as a sense of place. Old vine fruit from a top terroir close to the town of Saint-Emilion.‘
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate POINTS 93-95
‘The 2008 was singing marvelously when I tasted it. Inky/purple-colored with full body, excellent concentration, and loads of black fruits intermixed with spring flowers, forest floor, crushed rock, and subtle smoke characteristics, it is a dense, rich, opulent, flamboyant effort with a 45-second finish. This is another example of the brilliant winemaking talents displayed by Jonathan Maltus and his consulting oenologists, Gilles Pauquet and Neil Whyte. The 2008 should drink well for 20+ years. A new acquisition by proprietor Jonathan Maltus, who sold Grand Destieu in order to upgrade to this terroir, this 10-acre vineyard is planted with 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc. It is situated near several of the premier grand cru classes of St.-Emilion, including both Beausejours and Angelus.’ |

Les Asteries, Saint Emilion Grand Cru |
$78 / bottle |
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate POINTS 94-96
‘A limited cuvee fashioned from the hardest type of limestone (called Asteries), this blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the brilliance of this 2008 is no doubt due to the tiny yields and extremely old vines (some of which pre-date the killer frost of 1956). The wine exhibits an inky/purple color, incredible density, and notes of graphite, barbecue smoke, blackberries, and creme de cassis. The oak component is well-concealed, and the huge tannins are remarkably sweet and well-integrated. This stunning St.-Emilion should evolve for a least a decade.’
Decanter POINTS 17.5
‘Elegant, fragrant with a touch of class. Long and linear but with a solid depth of fruit. Powerful tannins finely honed. Fresh, minerally note on the finish.‘ |

Le Carré, Saint Emilion Grand Cru |
$56 / bottle |
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate POINTS 93-95
‘From a homogenous terroir of clay soils over a bed of limestone, this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc is a limited production cuvee of approximately 300 cases. Significant amounts of structure, tannin, and muscle are found in this wine as well as a liquid mineral characteristic intertwined with dense fruit (blackberries and cassis), forest floor, and incense. This full-bodied effort appears to represent a more structured, mineral-laced style than proprietor Jonathan Maltus- more fruit-driven Laforge and Teyssier cuvees. This wine will require 2-4 years of cellaring, and should last for 15-20 years’
Decanter POINTS 17.0
‘Deep colour. Lovely fragrant fruit expression. Beautifully textured. Opulent fruit and fine, long tannins. Drink 2015-2025.‘ |

Château Laforge, Saint Emilion Grand Cru |
$35 / bottle |
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate POINTS 92-94
‘This limited production offering, which comes from three separate terroirs, is a blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc in 2008. A brilliant success, proprietor Jonathan Maltus’ 2008 offers an inky/ruby/purple color along with aromas of flowers, sweet black fruits, licorice, and subtle new oak. Full-bodied and opulent with the vintage’s sweet, ripe tannins, layered, concentrated fruit, wonderful density and purity, and a full-bodied mouthfeel, it should age effortlessly for 10-15 years.’
Wine Enthusiast POINTS 90-92
‘Spicy, ripe and concentrated, this works well as a forward, fruity wine. The fruit balances easily with a measure of wood.-R.V.‘ |

Clos Nardian, Saint Aubin de Branne, Bordeaux Blanc |
$45 / bottle |
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate POINTS 88-91
‘No tasting note given for Bordeaux Whites.’
Stephen Tanzer’s IWC POINTS 90-92
‘Bright golden yellow. Lovely, almost viognier-like nose offers ripe aromas of peach, apricot, candied ginger and tropical fruits. Rich and opulent, with an almost oily texture to its flavors of candied pineapple, pear, guava and beeswax. Finishes creamy and very long. A knockout white vin de garage from a clay-over-limestone vineyard in Saint Aubin de Branne (just south of Saint-Emilion), made in very small quantities. The crop is pruned to three bunches to the vine, and the must from the old-vine muscadelle (planted in 1935!) is put through reverse osmosis to increase its alcoholic degree-but proprietor Jonathan Maltus tells me he really likes it because of the musky, aromatic character it contributes to the wine.‘ |
