Harvest 2008 in Sight

June 30, 2008

June's 1100+ person strong San Francisco Open House (photos and videos) marked the unofficial transition from early to late pre-season. All of the projects we procrastinated on are now staring us in the face as we look at harvest beginning in about two months with the first Sauvignon Blanc of 2008. Yields are down this year due to low rainfall and frosts, but this also means that most vineyards will see higher quality due to small berries that yield more concentrated wine. It's really too early to tell for sure, but we're extremely optimistic about quality this year. Here's what's happening now...

2008 Referral Program Launched
Over the past few years, we've noticed that the #1 way we get new clients is from a referral from an existing client. To thank you for referring new clients, this year we are launching a referral program . There are two levels, including a case of a special no-expense-spared 2008 To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon and a Harvest VIP Dinner that will be among the most unique dinners you've ever been to. I'm going through my cellar and pulling out 50+ year old wines, 100 point Parker rarities and all the stuff where I say "I'd love to drink that but I can't afford to." Referrals are extremely important and we really appreciate your support in spreading the word. Check it out.

Gary Vaynerchuk's 500th Episode at Crushpad
Most of you are familiar with Gary Vaynerchuk and his impossibly energetic and unintimidating approach to wine. Last year we worked together on creating the Vayniac Cabernet. Now we're hosting Gary's 500th episode at the winery on Thursday, July 10th from 6pm to 10pm... and you're invited. Come on by (RSVP Here), be part of the audience at this historic event and try wines from 10 different wineries (including Crushpad of course). This is going to be an awesome event that will be viewed by perhaps hundreds of thousands of people, so definitely try to make it.

Pre-Payment Discount Ends This Week
Please note that the 5% pre-payment discount officially ends this week (we've extended it by 4 days due to some stragglers). So if you're going to be making wine this year, you should definitely contact Dave Gifford (dave@crushpadwine.com) and get the latest vineyard list.

Community Crush Launched
Earlier this month we launched Community Crush in our own working class neighborhood of Potrero Hill. The idea is to help bring together neighborhoods by making wine together. We are now adding hipsters and jocks with the addition of the Mission and Marina. If you live in one of those neighborhoods, click on your neighborhood and sign up now.

Double Golds for Angelo and Kitchak!

Angelo Cellars and Kitchak Cellars both were awarded Double Golds at the San Francisco International Wine Competition for their 2005 Cabernet-based blends.

Combine gourmet food, great wine and singles. Mix thoroughly. That's the idea behind Cooking Crush. Our next one is coming up on July 16th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Find out more here.
